LC Applied Maths 2015

Posted Jun 21, 11:07 pm

So I feel the 2015 Exam was a nice one :) here is my breakdown (I tried it myself).

Time = 1 hour, 45 minutes (without checking any answer or planning time)

Q1, this took be 13 minutes to do. The answer for part (a) was 57 m and the answer for part (bi) was 3.5 seconds and (bii) was 48.857 m. I'll give this 5/5 :)

Q2, this one took 18 minutes to do. The answers for part (ai) 97.177 km/hr , 19.155 deg and part (aii) 655 m. Part (b) was 8.2 m/s at 19.46 deg to the vertical. I'll give this one 4/5

Q3, this took be a huge 28 minutes to do. (ai) was 27.704 and -0.1253. (aii) 10.244 sec and 0.3729 sec. Finally for part (a), (aiii) 21cm. The (b) part was a "show that", always nice. I'll give this 3.5/5 -- the a part made be sad :(

Q4, this took 27 minutes (although it felt longer). The answers I got are (ai) 3/10 g, (aii) 21/5 m/s and (aiii) 147/22 m/s. Then (bi) 2 m/s^2 and (bii) 163.32 N. This was a fine question, 4/5.
PS: I made a mess of this question, half of it is wrong :( ! RATS!

Q5, this took a mere 9 minutes. A very nice question. Part (ai) a nice "Show that" and (aii) was $\frac{19}{80u}$, not too bad. Part b was a VERY NICE "Show that", very nice indeed. 5/5

Q10, another sub 10 minute question. 9 minutes in this case. (ai) both were 16 m/s. (aii) 16 m apart. And (aiii) the area is the inbetween bit. For part (b) what a strange question for Applied Maths. (bi) $74x+0.55x^2+0.01x^3$ , (bii) 32800 and (biii) 2695. 3/5 -- I didn't think that was an appropriate Applied Maths Part B Question.
